I SWEAR I have an in-built cool repellent.
Seriously! It's almost as though life spots me occasionally attempting to be all formal and fancy (usually at an event or when I'm meeting somebody for the first time), and thinks ''ha! Trying to act all professional today, are we? You imposter! Here, have some stairs to trip over. And what's that? Hair you're trying to style? Ta-dah! It's now an unmanageable mess. Thought you were going to fool everybody into believing that you're not an unsophisticated doofus? *insert booming British voice here* NOT BLOODY LIKELY!'' (Sure, the fact that I always hear the latter in a thick British accent is possibly the most disturbing element of all of this, but I digress!)
After spilling Diet Coke all over myself (of course!) and losing my original outfit choice to a make-up mishap (d'oh!), I finally made my way to Sydney's Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival's Opening Day yesterday, which I was kindly invited to attend as HP Australia's 'VIB - Very Important Blogger'. (Uh huh. I'm still waiting for a team of cameras to arrive and for someone to cry out ''SURPRISE! You're on Candid Camera or Punk'd!'', too!)
A full write-up on the day's fashion itself is a-coming (there's so many exquisite pieces to discuss!), but let's take a sneak-peek at the show's shenanigans in the meantime, shall we?
The venue for Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival: Sydney's Town Hall!
Why, look who I found! It's the always-divine Dani of Danimezza! Doesn't her hair look super foxy?! She's had it all dip-dyed (look closely, the ends are a completely different colour!) and beautified. Want, want, WANT!
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's just someone (ahem!) frolicking about like an imbecile on the stairs!
Bold colours and beautiful, billowy dresses. Myer's 'Big Is Beautiful' show opened with a TERRIFIC bang.
Sipping cocktails after the collection with Natalie Mulford of Extra Large As Life (I met her for the first time yesterday and she is so, SO lovely!) and Dani.
What I'm Wearing:
x Giorgio Armani blazer (I found this in a second-hand store in 2007 for $50. It's served me well!)
x Fuschia-coloured Target dress (again, BARGAIN ALERT! It was $3.70 in Target's 'Reduced To Clear' Summer sale.) I know it's apparently extremely uncool to adore Target, but I do! Their pieces are consistently gorgeous, well-made and most importantly, AFFORDABLE.
x Diana Ferrari heels
x A sparkly ring from Colette Accessories and my trusty old sparkly skull bag
Goodbye, girls!

It was such an excellent day. PINCH ME! I still can't believe that I was sitting in the front row to witness it all! (That I couldn't manage to master the SLR camera I'd borrowed to capture everything, resulting in amateur photographs from my little $98 camera while an enormous piece of technology sat in my lap? Yep. Now that I can definitely believe!)
