The Daily Frock - 22/10/09 ♥
October 22, 2009

Oh, dear. What a DAY! If this was an episode of a television show, it would possibly be titled 'Building Reports: Why They're SUCH A Good Idea' (riveting viewing, I'm sure!) or 'Stress-zilla: This Is What I Have Become.' After receiving a building report this morning (a document conducted by a team of specialists who basically assess whether your home is at risk of say, falling down in five years time, or possessing electrical faults, killer vermon, etc.!) of our soon-to-be-purchased property, and learning that there was a history of termite problems (or, so I thought I read), we instantly decided to cut our losses and save ourselves future heartbreak AND money and pull out off the pending contract, remembering tales of ex-neighbours who had had to spend significant amounts of money on the issue in their own homes (around the $16,000 mark), only for it to remain unresolved, and the house that used to sit behind my parents', which was DEMOLISHED because of the exact same situation. (Units/apartments/houses + termites = a real estate disasterpiece!) I was devastated, and mentally began kissing goodbye any romantic notions of our place and any design concepts that I'd imagined, until Tom examined the contract and realised that the termites had only ever been a problem with the outer fence of the property, which was treated in 2003.. oh. So, everything still looks set.. fingers crossed! But in the meantime, I've been sending copious amounts of e-mails, reading multiple contracts, and feeling as though my heart is close to exploding roughly every five minutes.. the joy! This is what I wore to do so..

What I'm Wearing:

x Emerald/turqouise coloured dress - Alice Motel

x Sequinned jacket - Witchery

x Clear-lensed, non-prescription glasses - Ebay

x Equip bangles and headband

The moral of the story? Attempting to acquire a dwelling of your own can be irrevocably and at times, hideously, more nerve-wracking than it looks.. and that it's probably, maybe, DEFINITELY a wise move to read contracts thoroughly!

xoxo
