The Daily Frock - 08/09/10 - Happy Birthday To Me, Happy Birthday To Me! ♥
September 8, 2010

I look like a monkey (but I always have), and I'm now 23!

Hip hip, HOORAY!

Eek! It's my birthday today!

Do I look any older?!

I definitely don't feel any older, but then again I've been spouting off the same answer whenever somebody's quizzed me about my age for years: ''I'm eighte- oh, wait. No, I'm not! I'm twenty-t..''

Sil-ly!

With the big, smack-you-in-the-face realisation that we'll be in Europe for just over a month in a mere matter of weeks (yes, weeks! Argh! Crazy!), I decided to keep this birthday extremely low-key. Spending? What spending?! There was to be no spending! I even warned my boyfriend against present buying, telling him to save his pennies for while we were overseas, instead. He didn't listen. Before assuring me that he had ''only purchased something little'', he steered me towards a chocolate mud cupcake, and three wee gifts decked out in The Simpsons wrapping paper. The Simpsons wrapping paper! Ooh, does he know me well. As the below photograph depicts, I was clearly disappointed (!) with this arrangement and his thoughtfulness:

He then announced that we were going to dinner at The Collaroy Beach Club's Watergrill restaurant!

(Look! You can't see with the darkness, but this restaurant is literally located on the beach! Underneath the deck is sand!)

What I'm Wearing:

x Purple stripy dress, second-hand
x Motorcycle boots, Payless Shoes
x Faux leather/(''pleather''!) jacket, Miss. Selfridge, London

It has been a good, good day. Thank-you enormously to everybody who has already wished me a happy birthday, I appreciate it so much! Birthdays have the capacity to be terrifying; there's that whole ''what?! I'm _ already?! WHAT HAVE I BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST YEAR OF MY LIFE?!'' sensation, coupled with the pressure to do something fabulous, and of course, there's the occasional pangs of realising that you're older than you would possibly like to be. But honestly? I can genuinely say that as much as I might cry out dramatically ''I'm _! Somebody hand me an application for a retirement village!'' every twelve months, with each year seems to come so much more enjoyment. Knowledge! Perspective! Change! HAPPINESS! And those are the kinds of gifts which are TRULY timeless.

xoxo
