They're your best weekend friends!
And no, I'm not talking about Marlene, Charlene or Darlene (insert relevant, actual best friends' names here!), although they ARE rather magnificent, aren't they?!
I'm referring to your favourite sparkly mini-dress! Or perhaps it's a sublime floral-patterned frock that you cherish. Or is it that maxi-dress?
Either way, come Saturday and Sunday you're out prancing about in them lovingly, taking them shopping and wining and dining and generally having a flipping good time. And that's brilliant! But where are they are on a Monday morning? Locked inside your wardrobe, all neglected and resentful with the knowledge that there'll be another full FIVE days before they can nudge their way back into the sartorial spotlight again?! Oh, come on! There's absolutely no reason why they can't accompany you along to the office during the working week!
Take, for instance, our previously discussed sparkly mini-dress. Just LOOK at it, what with its sequins and its glimmer and its fun! It's a terrific wee thing to whirl out on a Saturday night, but it's an entirely inappropriate item for the office, right?!
No! Simply add a suit jacket or blazer and a skirt and ta-dah! You're as a professional as a laminator! (But infinitely shinier!)
And then there's that floral number that we mentioned. Well. If I was to conduct a phone conversation with such an object (and for the sake of this style challenge, let's all pretend that this is a completely normal occurrence!) in the next few minutes, I imagine that it would play out like this (and resemble the above): ''Oh HI, floral dress! You know, it's funny, we were just talking about you! Can I just take a moment to say that whoever said that you definitely shouldn't be worn when strolling towards a corporate desk was W-R-O-N-G?! I can?! Fantastic, because with the quick addition of a blouse and a slightly more formal handbag, you 110% can be!''

And finally, we approach the maxi-dress. Sure, it's an outstanding option for picnics, the beach, and of course, THAT Saturday night barbecue, but did you happen to know how happily it slots into your working life, too? It does! Adorn it with a shirt and trade your flats for heels and hey, lame pun alert, we're in business, baby!
