It's Friday! ♥
January 8, 2010

Q: Um, no it's not. It's actually Saturday. Jeez, who do you think you're fooling?! GET A CALENDAR!

A: Oh, you're so right! It is Saturday! I'm sorry! And no, I haven't been living under a rock all week, although, that would explain why it's been a lot quieter than usual around here. No, unfortunately I've had tonsillitis for what's now approaching an almost criminal length of time, and apparently one of the unpleasant symptoms (in addition to sneezing, wheezing and generally a whole bunch of other attractive behaviour!) is the loss of productivity. D'oh! But enough of that. Less talk about splutter and more about what's making my heart flutter(Ooh, a rhyme!) So, in no particular order, here we go! My love list for the second week of 2010! :

x Developing A Motto For 2010 -  Have you noticed that seemingly everywhere, people are cooking up fantastic mottos for 2010, or plucking out a selection of marvellous words to describe what their ideal year would feature, or be a summary of? For some, it's all about learning more or pledging to try new things, while for others, it's all about expression s and statements such as ''inspiring others''''saving more'' and ''making friends with Siamese cats''.(Okay, you've got me. I totally made the one about saving more up. Yep, definitely that and not the one about people wanting to make friends with Siamese cats!) Personally, a motto that I would like to initiate as my theme for 2010 is ''design a life you love'', and to me, this means perfecting a lifestyle which makes me want to leap out of bed every morning, smiling, feeling excited about the day's plans ahead, satisfied that I'm spending it exactly how I want to, and ready to roll! I feel like I'm almost there, but also, that I need to step my game up in a few areas to really get things happening, you know?

x The Calming Effect Of The Ocean - On Sunday night, I was feeling a bit down in the dumps. Nothing serious, just very.. blah. I'd had tonsillitis for a few days at that point, and although I'd initially relished the opportunity to not get out of bed for a whole day, by day three, it was SERIOUSLY starting to get to me! So at 11.30pm, I picked up my favourite cardigan and a journal, and made my way to the beach. Although I sat there for at least an hour, within a few minutes of being immersed in the sand and listening to the sound of the crashing waves, I already felt so much calmer and happier. A recommended activity for days when you're feeling less-than-lovely? For sure.

x Lounging Around The House In Comfortable Satin Slips - Oh, yes. I've recently been to heaven and I spell it like this: l-o-u-n-g-i-n-g a-r-o-u-n-d t-h-e h-o-u-s-e i-n c-o-m-f-o-r-t-a-b-l-e s-a-t-i-n s-l-i-p-s. It's one of my new favourite routines, especially on a scorching summer's day! If you don't already own one and are searching for a stylish solution to braving the heat this month, you MUST purchase one!

x Other Little Things - The Commodores; Rob Zombie's version of Brick House; soft towels which feel like the fabric equivalent of marshmallows; huge plates of nachos; new skills; big, beautiful, brimming indoor house plants; admiring my boyfriend's handiwork (he has been renovating our apartment like a mentalist all week, and sweet merciful crap, do his skills blow me away sometimes or what!); enormous takeaway containers of delicious Pad Thai; evening strolls; listening to David Bowie while reading fashion magazines and writing; people who are truly kind, courteous and seem to possess hearts of absolute gold (because isn't it nice to meet people are genuinely, well, NICE?!); sips of bourbon and cola; and journals full of words scattered everywhere!

How was your week? Are you full of love for 2010 already?!

xoxo
