BLOG
If you're clicking here for the first time, WELCOME! Every Friday we celebrate the fact that - ding, ding! - it's Friday, and our favourite things (deliciously warm Spring days? Masking tape?! Okay, it's probably not the latter...) from the week that was. Here's what I'm currently loving!
x Kayaking - Alright, so I'm probably one of the few adults (wow, did I just call myself an adult?! Weird! The idea of being grown up seems so... FOREIGN!) who hasn't been kayaking before, but I went last Friday for the first time and I-l-loved it! (And here I was wailing ''I'm going to capsize! I'll be shark bait! They can probably smell me already!'' for hours beforehand. How silly! I didn't and it was GREAT!)
Hi, I'm not in the water! (Cele-brate good times, COME ON!)
x Signing Up For Pole Dancing (Ahem!) & Belly Dancing Classes - As dramatic as it might sound, the older I get (I'm turning 24 next week!), the more determined I become to experience everything that life has to offer. I don't want to leave this earth wondering what ANYTHING is like, so in what will be the ultimate test of my co-ordination (have I mentioned that I possess the grace of a baby elephant? I do!) I've signed up for pole dancing and belly dancing classes. Terrifying!
x Attending Revlon's 'Top Speed' Fashion Show - On a scale of 1-10, how much of a pretentious clown would I look like if I was to LIVE BLOG from a fashion show?! (Yes, live blog! As in sitting there with my laptop, typing away, while the models strut back and forth!) I estimate about a 10, but I guess I'll know for certain soon, because that's exactly what I've been invited to do this afternoon! (Cross your fingers that I don't make too much of a ninny of myself!)
x Other Little Things - Having Dani introduce me to the massively talented Gisela Ramirez, only for Gisela to say ''I know... I've seen her blog!'' (me: ''OHMYGODYOUHAAAAAAAAAAAVE?!''); Puddle Of Mudd's Spin You Around (JEEZ I love this song!); Revlon's 'Top Speed' nail enamel (not a product placement. This baby literally dries in sixty seconds!); Kathryn's fantastic advice of ''don't add lame shit to the world'' (hear, freaking hear!); and finally... I LEFT MY PART-TIME JOB AT THE TRAVEL AGENCY YESTERDAY! I'm COMPLETELY terrified (will I be destitute within a week?! What if nobody hires me again? Oh, well. Interesting reading material, here we come!), but... sometimes you have to throw yourself off a ledge to create your own safety net, don't you? Okay, that was a terrible analogy (please don't throw yourself off any ledges!), but life is similar to a magnificent swimming pool. If we don't occasionally attempt a few scary leaps and dives, where's the fun?!
x Arrange to meet a friend or someone that you'd like to get to know better (because isn't it a brilliant time to make the transition from wondering what someone's like to discovering what they're like? YES!) for a Midnight date. The idea? You visit a beach, park or 24 hour bar or restaurant at Midnight and just... talk! Learn about eachother! Visit a typically highly-populated area after hours and revel in the fact that there's almost nobody else there! (Would anyone in Sydney like to go on a Midnight date?)
x Share a personal project or goal (your website portfolio? Your hip-hop career?!) with someone unexpected. It can be a little nervewracking, but I guarantee that the feedback will always be interesting!
♥
Happy Friday! How was YOUR week?
xoxo
Rosie - BAHAHAHAHA! That's one of the cutest things I've ever read. Thank-you so much for making my morning, and also, for your encouragement. You're lovely!
J - YOU SHOULD! Honestly, it's *so* interesting to hear other people's feedback. I know how you feel, though. It struck me last week how much I've changed when it comes to sharing my work when I was linking to my blog on Facebook the other day... I realised that a few years ago, I would've DIED if anyone I knew saw my writing, and been terrified that they'd all laugh at me. Nowadays I think ''you know what?! I don't CARE if they laugh at me!'' You are who you are and you only live once! ;)
Also, what day is your birthday?! I hope you have a super special day!
Euforilla - Yes, LET'S! Shimmying is damn hard, but it's fun! And COME TO SYDNEY! :D
Ani - Whoooa. They *did* look like a doll, hence my question! A-m-a-z-i-n-g indeed!
And a full sailing license? Holy heck! How multi-talented are you, Ani?!

To answer your question: Yes, that's a real person in the last photo. Amazing, right? They looked like dolls!
I've never been kayaking either but I've got a full sailing license!
Well, I'll be happy to hear about your adventures with dancing over time :)

Yay for kayak!
And for belly dance lessons! I'm going to dance again this year, we can share experiences (on how hard yet silly a shimmy is, on costumes and sore arms :D).
Plus I love, LOVE!, your suggestions for next week! (I'd love a Sidney midnight date... heck, I'd love a Sidney anything! :))

Super inspiring post...I want a midnight date and I want to tell someone my secrets and goals! (I"m a secret blogger, very few of my friends know about it!)
Happy Birthday! My b-day is next week too, but I'm well beyond 24...)

I'm so glad you enjoyed kayaking! And I wouldn't worry too much in the future, cause even if you capsized, a shark would see how awesome you are and help you to safety :P
And super mega congrats on leaving your job! I'm sure you'll manage to work everything out and be just as happy, or even happier, not working at a travel agency.

Scribbles - Thanks heaps, Tash! I've still got SOME part-time work (the life of a full-time freelancer isn't for me, especially when it involves an activity as solitary as writing. I *need* to be getting out and talking to other people!), and I'll still be writing the occasional piece for the travel agency at home, but I'm excited because my days have really, really been freed up now :) And I'm sure you will, miss, but honestly, enjoy your teaching for as long as you can! I'm sure I'll put together a piece on it soon, but working for yourself isn't necessarily all that it's cracked up to be ;)

Wow! Congrats on leaving your job! How exciting! I hope to be in the same position some day - however, with the wedding coming up it's imperative I have good employment for the next year or so!
