Traditional-coloured food? Pft. Take five!
There's a bigger, badder and thoroughly more enticing offer on the culinary horizon, and that's an assortment of rainbow-hued delights!
Feeling crafty, or in the mood for something decadently sweet? Why not whip up an amazing multi-tied, multi-coloured cake? Or quadruple-coloured cupcakes? Or pancakes concocted in the most brilliant shades of blue, purple, orange, yellow, green and pink possible? Or fairy bread?
It doesn't matter that a chipmunk could probably outwit me in the kitchen; I want to attempt each and every single one of these spectacular creations!

There are ten different coloured layers, and sprinkles - I'm sorry, but are we in HEAVEN?! (And look! Genuis Emily even found a recipe on how to make one! Hooray!)

Magic. Exquisite, cloud-like, magic!

If I ordered pancakes from a restaurant or cafe` and these arrived, I would honestly explode in a fit of glee!

Scrumptious.

That multi-tiered cake looks AMAZING!!! Since I'm a horrible homemaker, I've been attempting to cook/bake one new recipe a week to convince my husband that I'm not a complete failure as a wife! I'll definitely have to try the cake...or maybe the pancakes. Those look a bit easier.

Thanks for your comment on my work, by the way. It made me smile.

I tried my hand at rainbow cupcakes in March - they were great-tasting, but not nearly as colourful as these examples. I think I was nervous of putting too much food colouring in them!
Say, where'd you find the pic of the ten-layer rainbow cake? It's gorgeous :)

I've always wondered how to make this! Something about artificial colors just seems to make everything so much yummier...How incredible is that rainbow layered cake!!

I usually throw in some food colouring into my cupcakes and the frosting - I haven't mastered the art of them looking like rainbows though!
I wonder what they taste like? :D

I'm totally making rainbow pancakes as soon as I get my hands on some food color thingy (forgot the name in English).
They look delicious!

So lovely!
I made coloured muffins for halloween last year, with chocolate icing and rainbow sprinkles sticked on it.
Sweet, lovely and fun (even if the youngest among us was 23!)

Rainbow food wins over normal food any day! I love that picture of the rainbow pancakes. If anyone knows where I can get some, I will probably make out with you.

Darn it! This is sure to induce cupcake dreams for the third night in a row :P
I have made rainbow cake before - rainbow foods are so much fun. I've also made pink mashed potato... I think it's safe to say that crazy unnatural colours should be saved for sweet foods.

O my word ... how amazing is this rainbow food!! I want it all ... now!!!

Alex - I am a baking disaster. Actually, I'm just a kitchen disaster. I'm not even sure if I could manage that, but I'm going to try! I want to make all of these! (I'm sure that I could probably manage the fairy bread, though it would be touch and go.. ;D)
Rachael - Really? How interesting! I don't think I've ever eaten anything that's been heavily dyed before, so I'm not entirely sure how my tastebuds feel about it. (Rest assured though, I plan on changing that!)
Emma - Aren't they?! I'm in love! My only regret is that all of these pictures come from different locations and have been randomly saved to my computer (from the likes of Tumblr) that I can't even properly credit where they come from!

AMAZING.

It LOOKS appetizing, but alas, I have a particular aversion to majorly dyed foods. I just can't do it; all I taste is red (or yellow or blue or whatever). I can't even eat red velvet cakes. But it does look pretty!

Ohhh, how amazing.
Those cupcakes are so good, I want these!
I think that it'd be pretty easy to make in terms of just dividing the mix into seperate bowls & putting food colouring in.. I wonder though, how tricky it would be to stop the colours running into one another when you layer them.
