The deliciously musty (stale?!) smell of old pages! Phone conversations with old friends!
The arrival of the weekend!
Here's what I'm celebrating on this fine Friday:
x Becoming A Member Of A Library - Fantastic at sticking to resolutions? ME? Never! In fact,''lousy'' would be a more apt description of my goal-keeping abilities. (That herb garden that I've been meaning to plant and water lovingly all year? Non-existent!) BUT - it hasn't been all failed bunches of basil and parsley, you know. Yesterday I joined a library and that's something that I've been meaning to do ALL YEAR. I missed having a regular stack of excellent, tangible reading material, and hey - via the library, it's FREE! None of this $30 a pop business! Colour me happy!
x Phone Conversations With Old Friends - ''Corrine? This is Chris from ANZ Bank. I'm calling you to discuss your $5000 savings account-,'' ''What's that, my lack of it?!'' ''Ha! Well, yeah, now that you mention it... just kidding! It's me, CHRIS!'' From one of my best friends in high school that I hadn't spoken to for months to my funny American friend that I hadn't spoken to for well, at LEAST a year, this week has been all about the catch-up conversations!

x Bloomin' Lovely Floral Temptations - I absolutely shouldn't have, but I absolutely did. Isn't she gorgeous?! I spotted this flowery masterpiece on Modcloth the other day and have been able to think of little since. ''No!'' I told myself. ''You can't have it! You're saving! Saving your pennies!'' And then I proceeded to create tiny excuses to justify it as a completely essential purchase: ''but it would look PERFECT with so many dresses! In fact, it would look so perfect that if you didn't buy it right now, you'd be an even bigger fool than you are now. Actually, scrap foolish, you'd be a criminal. Did you hear me?! A CRIMINAL! Yes, that's right, you would be locked up if you don't buy it. Why don't I just save us both some time and energy and call the police now?!'' And then I crumbled like the remnants of a muffin and purchased it. Eek!
x Other Little Things - Turning 23 on Wednesday (23! 23! How did this happen?!); having a situation turn out 100% differently to how I had anticipated (in a ''this is so bizarre and unexpected, I can't stop giggling!'' kind of way); sharing a moment on the wonderful Gaynor Alder's stage; Slipknot's Volume 3: The Subliminal Verses album (I love, love, LOVE Corey Taylor's voice!); and sweet, sweet watermelon!
x Spend some time really getting to know someone. What are they interested in? What are they working towards?
A friend once told me that he believed it was impossible to ever TRULY know somebody, and although I disagreed with him at the time (''what?! No! Of course you can!''), I'm finally beginning to understand his perspective years later. We have hundreds of conversations with various people each week, but how much do we know about these people and their lives?! Now, I'm not suggesting that you sidle up to your bus driver and ask him about his relationship (no!), but why not enquire about a colleague's goals? Or whether or not that lovely person at that cafe` which makes the most AMAZING sandwiches had a splendid weekend?
♥

Good for you for joining a library! Although I have to say, I do love owning my own books...it's an addiction!
I absolutely LOVE ModCloth, too. I ordered this gorgeous sexy red dress from them awhile ago, but it didn't really fit right and I had to send it back. So sad! :(

I just love your Friday posts! Absolutely fill me to the brim with positivity for the weekend and the week ahead. :)

Oh that coat is gorgeous!
I really should join a library... although my book collection is bit of a library itself!

I was just meeting up this morning with two old friends from high school. It's always nice to catch up with people (we see each other about twice a year) and follow how they go their way through this world. We're all after different careers and well, it's just great to talk to people who aren't part of my every day life and can look objectively on some topics and give me their input!

Holy cute dress batman! It would have been criminal for you not to buy it. In fact, I would have had to call the police. So I'm glad you bought it, because I don't know if they let you blog in fashion jail, and couldn't live without your blog posts.
Oh, and I also love Corey Taylor's voice. He's amazing.

Oh Corrine, your posts always brighten up my day! Love your writing. Also my boyfriend Tom has told me the same about not ever being able to truly know anyone completely; even after 2 years + into our relationship we have the most amazing conversations ever! Always getting to know each other.

First of all - happy birthday!!! Congrats on the Modcloth purchase... I think it will be totally worth it, that coat will look awesome over dresses & things. :D

Euforilla - It DOES! :D
Jade - It can be - especially when information is so readily available these days; we almost don't have to ask anyone something because it's available online! But still, nothing beats a face-to-face conversation ;D
Raquel - That IS amazing! And definitely :)
Carly - I've only recently come to appreciate how true that is, which is why I think it's so important to ask questions and at least try!
Julie - Ooh, have fun! :D That certainly SOUNDS fun!

I love catching up! In fact, my high school bffs and I organized a rock band night (tonight!) to do exactly that.

I think your friend's right about not knowing people that well. Even when you're best friends with someone or dating a guy you may not tell them everything about yourself... and vice versa.

ALSO - Those are some awesome spam comments right there! High class escorts, yes please!

Sounds like you've had an awesome week and I'm very jealous about your upcoming trip!
I am a total library groupie (no durrr, I work in one), and due to my job, I have access to about 30 (!) libraries for free. It's amazing.
Interesting point about 'never really knowing people' - one which I COMPLETELY agree on. However, I've found that blogging has helped me to get to know others much, much more, and to let others know about myself! It's fantastic.
xx

Great suggestion, it's fun to get to know people closer, I sometimes feel as though it's hard to achieve intimacy in this crazy, techno, fast paced world.

Yay for chats with old friends, I had some this week too, and it feels so good ^_^
