Q: What's an oh-so romantic annual event which falls on February 14?
(Hint: It's not April Fool's Day.)
A: Why, it’s Valentine's Day, of course! (Come on, you didn't STILL think that it was April Fool's Day, did you?! Heavens!)
Yes, it's undeniably one of the most special dates of the year, so why not abandon the traditional gift of a card filled with someone else's sentiments and instead opt to create a truly memorable occasion that you'll cherish forever? (Oh, and singles? Partner schmartner. There's plenty of ideas on how to spend your day hans solo, too!)
With Your Lover:
x Take a cue from the super-sweet Courtney Jade and adorn your beloved's bedroom with 100 post-it notes! Scrawl a message on each one containing a reason of exactly why you adore them so, and watch their faces light up with glee as they wake up to a room full of love! (Seriously, is that one of the cutest ideas in the world or what?! I think I'm going to pinch it..)
x Book a decadent hotel suite in the city, and play tourists for the evening! Dine at a fabulous restaurant that you've always been itching to try, watch a play or catch an excellent band, and then return to your room to discuss your magical night, before passing out in your deluxe king-size bed. Mmm!
x Grab your silliest clothing (because dressing up will just make the experience THAT much more amusing!), and go bowling. It's ridiculously fun!
x Eat fish and chips on the beach.
x Share an incredible adventure: go hot-air ballooning, snorkeling, diving or bungee jumping!
x Add a bit of extra interest to a dining experience by ordering a cocktail, entree`, main and dessert at four different restaurants!
With YOURSELF:
x Use the day to do something ludicrously extravagant that you've previously never been able to justify: a head-to-toe pamper session at a luxurious day spa? Eyelash extensions and a delightful new head full of highlights? Vacuuming the house? (I kid, I kid!) Do it!
x Write yourself a long, affection-filled letter, bursting with all of the reasons that you're so thankful to be who you are, the amazing things that you've accomplished so far and the phenomenal things that you will continue to achieve!

x Buy something completely wildly, gloriously inappropriate. A $300 pair of gloves in the most resplendent shade of pink? A wig? A delicious scent? A luscious bouquet of flowers? The choice is yours!
x Have high tea with your girlfriends.
x Wear something dripping with sparkles (sequins + glitter + anything shimmer-y = the antithesis of anything less-than-fabulous!) and dance the night away at a spot that you've never been to before!
x Visit a botanical garden.
x Throw a themed party, and ask every guest to bring at least two people that you've never met before. (I've always wanted to do this!) New friendships! Crazy costumes! Happy memories! Obscene photographs! Win, win, win, win !

Thanks for the tips! Not sure what I'm going to do this year because I don't have any money.. I like the fish and chips on the beach idea. Picnic if weather permits maybe the one (-:

I can't even begin to count just how many cars I've seen covered in posts-its, either from the BF to the GF or viceversa. I once freaked out because one of the boys said that he had donde something to my car and he knows that post-its are my worst nightmare.
The theme party sounds awesome (it'll be even better if you ban the cutesy couples from going XD).
I think that the most important is to remember that Valentine's Day is a celebration of love and friendship and that it doesn't matter if you just stay in and hang out, just as long as you remember to say I love you sometime during the day.

Oh I am so happy I get to spend Valentine's with Tom! We'll be going to Barcelona so will most likely end up having dinner somewhere and returning to our hotel for some fun afterwards ;) But I do agree with Sarah Hannah, for Tom and I it may as well be Valentine's year-round hehe. Happy weekend!
