12 Months, 12 Products: Introducing... Frock & Roll's Best Beauty Buys Of 2010! ♥

And now, for the annual completely made-up Frock & Roll 'Best Beauty Buys Of The Year' awards!

Here's your host, Tom Cruuuuuuuuuuise!

Okay, so Tom couldn't REALLY make it over to Frock & Roll today (which is an enormous shame, because these babies are DEFINITELY worth leaping on couches for!), but a slew of exceptional beauty buys? Indeed!

From the ingenious creations that Palmer's consistently produce to that adorable little bottle of pink goop, Posie Tint, here's twelve products from the past twelve months which have provided me with much epidermal excellence!

Organix Coconut Shampoo, Organix Coconut Conditioner, Coconut Shampoo, Coconut Beauty

1. Organix's Coconut Milk Shampoo & Conditioner

Oh, Organix Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways! Actually, let's not, because public displays of affection can make other people feel slightly n-a-u-s-e-o-u-s. Let's leave it at this: after years of dreadlocks, over-washing and straightening the bejesus out of every single strand, you've transformed my previously dry-as-grass locks into a well-nourished mane. Bravo!

Palmer's Lip Balm, Palmer's Cocoa Mint

2. Palmer's, well, anything

Why? Because after trying almost every single lotion and potion (shampoos! Conditioners! Lip butters! Body balms and oils!) that Palmer's has to offer and finding myself serendipitously humming The Wedding March upon each application, I'm convinced that they could devise a concoction from SHOPPING BASKETS and still produce something exquisite!

Fudge Hair

3. Fudge's 'Straight Hair' Mist

With swirling, whirling, wild curls, naturally the most intelligent and appropriate hair cut would be a dramatic blunt fringe, right?!  Wrong!  But of course, I didn't realise this until long AFTER I'd had half my hair lopped off in the name of completing Frock & Roll's June 1 Hairdressing Salon + You + Free Reign = ?! Style Challenge.

My saviour? Fudge's 'Straight Hair' mist. No, it didn't bestow instantly straight hair upon me overnight but by golly, when used in conjunction with my straightening iron, it 110% helped me to fake it!

4. Maybelline's 'Mineral Power' Liquid Foundation & Powder

Admittedly, Maybelline's 'Mineral Power' foundation collection is approximately as new as Strawberry Fields Forever by The Beatles, but what would a list of the best beauty buys be without it?! A list of foolery, that's what! Smitten with their fantastic coverage, the fact that they allow your skin to b-r-e-a-t-h-e and that you can snap them up and STILL snare change from a $50 note, I initially tried these two in 2008, and have been unable to develop a permanent relationship with anything else ever since!

5. Benefit's Posie Tint

Finding yourself orchestrating a search party for your blush or bronzer every afternoon? Me too! Or at least, I WAS, until Benefit's Posie Tint wiggled its way into my life in the most bedazzling shade of pink imaginable and doubling up as an ultra durable lip stain, too.

Benefit Brow Kit

6. Benefit's Eye & Brow Kit

Two delightful eyeshadows? Check. An eyebrow powder? Check. A frying pan? Um, no. Wrong set! An eyeliner, two highlights, and a GORGEOUS pair of miniature tweezers, complete with a compact mirror to witness your make-up wizardry in?! You bet!

Trilogy's Age Proof CoQ10 Booster Serum

7. Trilogy's Age Proof CoQ10 Booster Serum

There are numerous things I'll forget each morning (wallet? Keys? Wallet and keys?!), but I'll always remember to apply this. I've babbled about its perfection before and it's entirely worth mentioning again: Trilogy's Age Proof CoQ10 Booster Serum is radiance in a bottle.

Le Tan SPF 15 Coconut Lotion

8. Le Tan's SPF 15 Coconut Lotion

It's non-greasy! It's moisturising! It's two hours water resistant AND it's coconut scented!  There would have to be a sun cream which came with free popsicles to even be marginally more impressive than Le Tan's SPF 15 Coconut Lotion.

Sportsgirl Nail Polish

9. Sportsgirl's 'Nail It' Products

When it comes to creating long-lasting, affordable nail polishes in an array of alluring hues, Sportsgirl have literally NAILED it. (Ba-doom-CHI!)

Smashbox Primer

10. Smashbox's Photo Finish Primer

Now, I know you've fetched mixed reviews left, right and centre, Smashbox's Photo Finish Primer, but ooh, you'll always have a place to call home on my bathroom sink!

Garnier Deodorant

11. Garnier's 48 Hour Mineral Deodorant

Unglamorous confession #4532526718: I can get a teensy bit sweaty. But Garnier's 48 Hour Mineral Deodorant, containing Mineralite, a naturally absorbent mineral from volcanic origin, which allows skin to breath? It works a treat! (AND It contains no alcohol and no parabens, whee!)

Bourjois Eye Shadow

12. Bourjois's Eyeshadows

Bourjois?! More like gorgeous!  Rich in colour AND quality, brilliantly, at just over $20 a pop, you absolutely don't have to be rich to afford them.

Tell me, oh wise beauty brains! Which products have you tried in 2010 which have been utterly swoon-worthy? Have any of these items made an appearance in your bathroom before?

xoxo

Awesome beauty list! Those bourjois eyeshadows are so cute! I will have to try them. I love smashbox photofinish too, I like the green one though for redness :)

I recently discovered Organix's coconut milk conditioner & I LOVE it! It's so thick that my curls drink it up & stay soft for days without getting greasy or gunky. Also, I love the summery smell!

I've always fancied trying the coconut shampoo and conditioner... but I'm a bit worried it'll be too heavy for my hair.

Nice rundown of products :-)

I'm pleased to see the positive review of the shampoo and conditioner! I keep seeing the bottles about and thinking they look lovely. Hopefully the vanilla is just as good as the coconut? I don't have a sense of smell but my sister smelt it for me and said it's veeeerry vanilla-y. Hoping this is a good thing? Anyway, thanks for the fab recommendations, I 'm a bit of a n00b in this area and it's good to see what others think is worth my cash before I fork it out! And if I can do that while sharing a giggle with you, all the better ;)

I LOVE Smashbox's make-up and primers.

25 Dec 2010, Kelly

I'm with you there on the Garnier, I sweat and stink up a storm hehe - this is a saviour!

I absolutely love Benefit's products.

When my mother asked me what I wanted for Christmas, I named a couple of things and topped it off with 'And if you can't be bothered to go looking for the rest, just buy anything from the shelves of the Benefit store!'

The one thing I've come to love this year has definitely been Max Factor's False Lash Effect Mascara :)

our number ones are exactly the same! love this post, I want to try so many things on your list :)

These are all foreign products to me, except for the Maybelline mineral collection which I absolutely adore as well!

For me this year:

- Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship collection - my hair has grown so much since I started using it! I have photographic proof.

- MAC lipstick (Viva Glam Gaga) - I've never had a MAC lipstick before and they are delicious. I love wearing my Gaga and my orange one. They are super creamy and feel nice on my lips.

- Maybelline DEFINE-A-LINE eyeliner - it's super black and slides super nicely and it stays all day

What else? I think that is all, I'm not much of a beauty junkie. As for the rest, I always use Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush body lotions and Clinique stuff for my face :D.

P.S.: Tom Cruise doesn't know what he is missing here :P
