BLOG
Without wanting to sound hideously ungrateful towards my own apartment (because I love you, little apartment! Yes, even with your shoddy bedroom ceiling and EVERYTHING!), there's a group of apartments a hop, skip and a jump away from my own home which beautifully slip into the 'now, if those were MY Lotto numbers called tomorrow night? I would absolutely be purchasing one of them tomorrow!' category. Of course, I suspect this method of acquisition would be approximately 2,768678 times more successful if I actually PLAYED Lotto, but I digress!
When my mother e-mailed me a couple of weeks ago to announce that she would be travelling to Sydney from New Zealand for the weekend I was ridiculously excited, but when she announced that her accommodation of choice would be the almighty 'Lotto' apartments - Sydney's Bellagio Apartments located in Collaroy on The Northern Beaches - well! Label me ludicrous, but I was positively ELATED! I mean, at last! A chance to discover whether or not The Bellagio Apartments truly were deserving of 'Lotto' status!

And as you can probably deduce from the above photographs - they weren't!
Oh, who am I kidding - did you SEE that heavenly view?! Of course they were! With ocean views from every room (seriously, even the bathroom offered gorgeous glimpses!), a large private balcony, fully equipped kitchen with laundry facilities and an indoor heated pool complete with a spa, sauna and gymnasium on the complex, it's difficult not to swoon. But in the interest of providing a balanced review, I'll attempt not to!
What's Not To Love
What's not to love about Collaroy's Bellagio Apartments? Little, but here goes!
Although Sydney's CBD is only a 30 minute drive away, it is still a 30 minute drive away - so if you're expecting to spy, say, The Opera House upon waking each morning, you WILL be disappointed. Collaroy is also a tiny suburb, so unless you're an avid beach lover or completely willing to use the (admittedly, very easy!) public transport system to explore some of Sydney's more famous locations, you would probably feel as though you were missing out on the city's action. It's also worth noting that if, like me, you keep extremely bizarre hours (oh, the perils of having a variety of jobs but also being partly self-employed!), The Bellagio Apartments ARE situated on one of the busiest roads in Sydney - something that definitely interferes with any notions of afternoon naps.
But would I stay there again? In a heartbeat! With two bedroom apartments starting at just $215 a night, it's luxury at a STEAL, and teensy as Collaroy may be, it's still an utterly delightful corner of the world positioned in - ahem, in my totally biased opinion (!) - one of the most glorious parts of Sydney.

Have you stayed somewhere exquisite lately or uncovered a divine accommodation jewel? And psst! Have you taken a peek at Frock & Roll's brand spankin' new header yet, as designed by the one and only (enormously talented!) Nubby Twiglet? I think she did such an incredible job!

Ms. Sublime - Ooh, that hotel sounds absolutely SUPERB! And hey, it's always worth paying extra for a good breakfast and view! :D
Julie - Hot springs! POOLS! How divine!
Steffie - Aw! Thanks a bunch!
Ma - Oops, silly me! (But were they dolphins, or SHARKS?! I forgot to tell you about the story that was front page of 'The Manly Daily' the next day!)
Rosie - Thank-you so much, Rosie! Nubby is one clever cookie!
Anisha - Me too - I'm completely the same way, which was why it was so nice to stay somewhere so different to what I would usually experience! And a private Victorian home? Sounds super interesting! :)

I have to admit that I'm rather the practical kind of girl - so wherever I go, I usually don't mind too much where I end up as long as there's a roof over my head, a bed and running water.
The poshest I ever stayed must have been, well, a private home and no hotel. It was rather lovely though - an old Victorian town house with a creaky staircase n all :)

You forgot to mention the dolphins seen from the lounge, passing by in the ocean - awesome sight. It was a lovely place to stay and so handy if you only want to be on the Northern Beaches of Sydney!! xxx Corrine's ma

I haven't but once my parents went to a small hot spring town 3 hours away from the city and they stayed at a beautiful mini hotel which was super luxurious and extremely cheap. They enjoyed the hot springs and the pools and the place was so pretty that they were shooting a telenovela there. The town is called Tecozautla in Hidalgo but I can't remember the name of the hotel.
Oooo the Bellagio apartments look so pretty and the view! The view!!

Hi Corrine, this looks ace! Well I stayed in The London in LA for a couple of nights, which was rather pish posh! I did have to pay a steep price but I had a small suite and there were great views of LA..plus amazing breakfast! xx
