Dearest 2009,
Wow! I can't BELIEVE that we've reached this point already! After all, it seems as though it was only yesterday that we were introduced to one another, doesn't it?! And in GERMANY of all places! But, then again, the fact that you've seemingly whirled by in one magnificent, enormous, shiny flash is probably just testament to the fact that we really seemed to hit off, didn't we?! Okay, so you occasionally broke my heart, tested me infinitely and DEFINITELY kicked my butt here and there, but for the most part, you were fairly amazing, weren't you?! Oh, you were. Don't be so modest! From incredible travel adventures in Europe (London! Amsterdam! Germany! Austria! Italy! Switzerland! Paris!)..

.. to launching Frock & Roll (and holey moley, have you guys massively blown me away with your enthusiasm and support towards it or WHAT?! Hint: you really, REALLY have!), beginning and completing a year of study in Media and Communications, attending a Sydney Blogger's Breakfast, meeting AMAZING new people and visiting (and being HIGHLY muppet-like throughout!) New Zealand..

..to interning at Sassi Sam, laughing bucket loads and buying my first apartment, 2009, you've been THOROUGHLY good to me! You knowingly and thoughtfully provided me with a series of challenging lessons, and although some events were immensely difficult to endure at the time, as cliched` as it sounds, each piece of every moment has lead to the phenomenally intricate and beautiful puzzle of a year that I'm delivering a goodbye to today.
2009, saying farewell to you is bittersweet. On one hand, it almost feels as though I'm administering a final hug to the most exquisite friend that I've ever had. But on the other, it's kind of similar to watching a close acquaintance move overseas: painful, but ultimately, a situation that you know is for the very best, so that each of you can experience fresh new opportunities and bliss. Besides, if you take a quick glance around, I'm quite sure that you'll soon spy something else on the horizon; it's name is 2010, and word on the street is that she's pretty darn awesome. I have a feeling that we're going to be FANTASTIC friends, and that her presence is only going to encourage more excellence!
Thank-you, 2009. Thank-you for being such an unforgettable, chaotic year. Thank-you for giving me the appropriate (yet loving) slaps in the face when I needed them, and for holding my hand when I needed that, too. But most importantly, thank-you for showing me a banquet of life's most scrumptious possibilities, and for reminding me that we're completely capable of achieving everything that we've ever dreamed of.
♥
Happy New Year!
If you were to review YOUR 2009, what it would sound like? A disdain-filled ode? A tale of neutral emotions? Or a message of pure, unabashed love?
xoxo

2009 wasn't really that good a year for me, but I'm trying to look forward to 2010. Love you letter though.

Nicely written!
My letter to 2009 would be one of appreciation. I got to the perfect little girl I've always wanted, and the pregnancy was as good as I could have hoped for.

Lovely letter, the comment about behaving muppet like in New Zealand made me grin!
My letter to 2009 would be a love letter, a thank you for introducing me to the most amazing boy and completely taking away any feelings of sadness in regards to the past!

Lauren - It did kind of kick everyone's butt at times, didn't it?! Gosh. I envisage 2010 being so much calmer, and less intense!
Julie - I'm sorry to hear about the problems that you had with your friend, what a bummer - but jeez, look at that list of yours! You achieved HEAPS in 2009! Happy New Year Julie, and I wish you all the very best for 2010!
Charlie - You know what? I feel completely the same way. But something tells me that all the excellence that 2009 featured was only a small sample of the magic that 2010's got in store for us! :D

Loved 2009. It was a year of love and yeah, it sucked sometimes, but I wouldn't trade what happened for anything.

Happy New Year Corrine!!
2009 was really bad for me. I mean it wasn't all bad but the fact that I lost my BFF because she thinks that I want to steal away her boyfriend sucked big time. We spent half the year fighting and the other half ignoring each other until we decided to just call it all off. THAT makes me not remember 2009 as the year that I:
- Finally drive my car to school
- Got into my first car accident
- Started and finished my thesis with awesome results
- Met beautiful girls at school who are my friends
- Learned to use Illustrator
- Went to my first job interview
- Got my unicorn wall
etc etc.
I hope that you get what you want out of 2010 and that you have/had an awesome NYE!
I'll be celebrating Japanese style and photographing my food.
Kisses!

Happy NY Corrine! 2009 was a hard year for me :( I think it was for a lot of people. First the recession, and then one of my family members got sick and then I ended up switching jobs (which didn't go so well). But I think I've learned something and like you, know that 2010 is going to be so much better.
