How To Make 2010 Your Very Best Year Yet: The New Years Resolutions Edition! ♥

Reducing your alcohol intake, striving to consume 7843.2 glasses of water each day, vowing to eat more greens with every meal...  sure, all of these may happily fall under the umbrella of traditional New Years Resolutions, but they're hardly the kind which are going to make you leap up, exclaim ''woohoo!'' and feel truly excited about 2010, are they?!

Personally, I'd rather chew on glass. Or on a severely less dramatic scale, whip up a batch of delicious goals which leave me feeling wonderfully inspired and actually wanting to complete them!

So! In order to make 2010 our most resplendent year yet, and filled with the sorts of stories we'd possibly like to tell our grandchildren about, why don't we...

x Aim to experiment with a different make-up look every week? It doesn't have to be a commitment to seven days of full-blown change, but why not select one day of each week to dazzle with false eyelashes, command compliments on beautiful eyes by switching ebony eyeliner for a sparkly jewel-toned hue, or look utterly divine with an amazing creme blush?

x Plan to visit a new restaurant every month? After all, haven't you always wondered what that little Thai joint on the corner is really like? (I have!)

x Strike up a friendship with someone completely unexpected?

x Book a mini-holiday? Whether it's a three day interstate road-trip with your best friends or a brief jet-set to an exotic location, make it happen! Much like my feelings towards The Boogeyman, I don't believe in regrets, but if there's one activity that I wish I'd completed more in 2009, it would've been quick jaunts away. There's nothing that rekindles the spirit more than an excellent travel adventure, and while it's natural to fret over not having enough money or time to do so (believe me, I know!), sometimes you also just have to throw caution to the wind and remember that HEY! Every day, you're writing the great script of your life: what do you want it to say?

x Create a living space that's reflective of exactly what we need? For example, if you crave bliss and relaxation, why not work towards building your bedroom/an area of your home into the most welcoming, sumptuous domain possible? Or, alternatively, a space that encourages you to act as an unstoppable productivity machine?

x Write a list of EVERYTHING that we want to achieve, and develop an action plan of how we can conquer it all? For example, if finding an occupation in a field that makes your heart race is one of your pursuits, why not conjure up the name of every person that you know working in that industry, and draft a letter (hint: it's a lot more personal than an e-mail, particularly when typed on glorious paper!) to them explaining your situation, and how you were wondering if they might know of anyone that could help you in your quest for employment, or of any suitable positions that they may have heard of?

For so many, 2010 signifies a year of change, and gleaming opportunities. One of the integral ingredients for these is taking action, and plotting a slate of resolutions is one of the most fabulous and successful ways to manifest this, so that you can enjoy your very best year yet!

What do you want want 2010 to represent for you?

xoxo

These are such good ideas! Man I love your blog =D I've been so bad with my resolutions this year... I haven't got any planned really but I definately need to find a JOB!!

My resolution is to TAKE MORE PICTURES. :) Eating healthy and exercising is far too boring. ;) ...plus, I try that all year round anyway!

Great ideas! I'm still thinking on my New Year's goals (I know, so late, but I like the communicatrix's idea of December in January [she takes all of January to set goals and etc. since December is so insane with the holidays]), but I think I am probably going to go with words and just try to meditate on them every day or every other day. My words for 2010 are grow, be free, savor, and inspire. :)

Love! They're so much more interesting than mine :D

I think I already do different make-up looks each week. I do visit new restaurants. I make friends with pretty much everyone I come across. I book holidays before I'm even back at work and my house is my castle. List queen! Hehehe oh I'm doing very well this year ;-P

I have resolutions on my blog they are my usual resolutions I know my weakenesses. Also, as I always add, one resolution to "have fun". I have a busy month planned ahead of me already. I love self improvement

Luinae - Thanks, miss! And all the very best to you, too! :)

Charlie - Hahahaha WELL, there's nothing wrong with trying to be healthy, but sometimes I think people can try and push themselves way too too hard, or create resolutions which aren't very easy to keep, i.e the attempting to drink 7843.2 glasses of water a day thing! I just think ''ha! Nuts to that! '', and would MUCH rather develop a set of goals which I know I'm more likely to fulfill because they're a) slightly more attainable; and b) interesting! :D

Maraluce - That's fantastic, congratulations! :)

i completely agree with you! although one of my resolutions is being more healthy again (but i know i will actually achieve that, because it makes me feel a million times better) & most others have to do with productivity & usefulness :p

i really love your ideas though, especially the ones about living space & mini-holidays, & i will probably do some of those as well.

for me 2010 represents dramatic change, productivity & taking full control of my life to create the one i always wanted to have.

i have already been working tirelessly on my goals (:

Your resloutions sound like much more fun. Why do we make resolutions like be more healthy anyway! (never get kept...)

Awesome ideas! I really like the one about the living space, that's one of my "Monthly Magic" goals. Good luck in 2010!

I couldn't agree with you more dear! I mean, what's the point of making resultions you are not going to enjoy?

For 2010 I'm:

Going to NYC (already looking for flights), in early March if it's possible.... See Gilda while I'm there too.

Enrolling in French classes in April (because I missed registration for January).

Continuing rennovations in my room. (Re-upholstering my counch and hardwood floors baby!)

Learning how to sew. Starting with a simple skirt tomorrow.

Getting a fab job at NYLON Mexico! As their web master!

Oh yeah, I'm phrasing my goals as if I've already achieved them and behaving accordingly.

Delicious ideas, darling! I adore them all-- whipping up my ideal living space is already on my list, but I love the idea of experimenting with different make-up looks & visiting new restaurants as well.
